A privacy policy for the application with one user
This policy explains how the private Proxmox Backup connector uses Google Drive data.
Effective: October 16, 2026
Purpose and operator
Proxmox Backup is a private, single-user backup application. It copies encrypted virtual machine backups from a personally operated Proxmox system to the operator's Google Drive account.
It is not offered as a service to other people. The support address appears on the Google OAuth consent screen.
Google data the application accesses
The application requests https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This scope permits access to Google Drive files used with this application.
The application can create, read, update, and delete its own backup objects and folders. It can also read the metadata needed to transfer, verify, list, and restore those objects.
The application does not request access to unrelated Google Drive files, Gmail, contacts, calendars, or other Google services.
How the data is used
Google Drive data is used only to store, verify, retain, and restore encrypted Proxmox backups.
Backup contents and filenames are encrypted before upload. Google can still observe object sizes, transfer times, and account-level activity required to operate Drive.
Backup contents are not sent to advertising systems, analytics services, data brokers, or AI model providers.
Storage and security
OAuth credentials and encryption keys are stored on the operator's systems with restricted filesystem permissions. Recovery material is kept separately from the Google Drive backup repository.
Encrypted backup objects remain in Google Drive until the operator removes them under the configured retention policy or deletes them manually.
Sharing
The application does not sell or share Google user data. Google processes the encrypted objects and related metadata as the storage provider.
Use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Control and deletion
The operator can revoke access from the Google Account security settings. The operator can also remove the application's backup folder from Google Drive.
Revoking OAuth access stops future transfers. It does not automatically remove backup objects already stored in Drive.
